About CM Smart City
A civic visualization tool by and for Indian citizens.
What is CM Smart City?
CM Smart City (cmsmartview) is a lightweight web tool that lets any Indian citizen upload or capture a photo of a local civic issue — a pothole, a damaged road, an overflowing drain, garbage accumulation, a broken footpath, or water stagnation — and instantly see a realistic improved version of the same location.
The goal is simple: make it easier to imagine, discuss and advocate for better public infrastructure. A clear side-by-side image is a stronger conversation starter than words alone, whether the audience is a neighbour, a resident welfare association, a local corporator, or a municipal department.
How it works
- You capture or upload a photo of a street or public space.
- The image is downscaled in your browser to reduce data usage, then sent to an image model.
- The model preserves the camera angle, buildings and street layout, and returns an improved version.
- Your location is optionally stamped into the image as a watermark so the context is preserved.
Who runs it
CM Smart City is an independent civic-tech project. It is not affiliated with any political party, state government, or municipal body. It is offered free of charge with a small daily usage limit so that hosting and processing costs stay sustainable.
Important limits
The improved images are illustrative visualizations produced by a generative model. They are not engineering proposals, not commitments by any government body, and should not be interpreted as official plans. Please share them as inspiration or discussion aids, not as evidence of promised work.
